We value your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it helps us improve your MoveSocial experience while keeping your information secure.

MoveSocial Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 24, 2026

Welcome to MoveSocial. We're committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and share your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices when you use our mobile application and related services.

If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive limited information necessary to create or verify your account, such as your name, email address, and profile image (if available). We do not collect any other data from these providers.

2.4 Payment Information

MoveSocial does not collect, process, or store payment information.

If you purchase a ticket to an event listed on MoveSocial, the transaction takes place outside of our app, between you and the event host, through the host's third-party payment processor (currently Stripe). Your payment details are handled entirely by that processor and the host under their own terms and privacy policies.

We do not receive your card details, billing address, or payment history, and we do not receive confirmation of individual purchases. An event host may separately receive your name and email address from their payment processor as part of their own sale.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

3.1 Provide Core Services

  • Create and maintain your account

3.4 Safety and Security

  • Review accounts and profile content for authenticity
  • Monitor for inappropriate behavior
  • Enforce our community guidelines
  • Protect against fraud, impersonation, and abuse
  • Investigate reports from users

4. Keeping the Community Safe from Fake and Fraudulent Accounts

MoveSocial is a platform where people meet in person, so we take impersonation and fraud seriously.

When an account shows signs of being fake, impersonating someone else, or being used for a scam, we may review the information associated with it, including profile photos and details, account activity, and reports from other users. This review may involve checking that information against publicly available sources and third-party tools.

We do this only where we have reason to suspect a problem. It is not routine screening of every account, and we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than keeping the community safe.

Where this happens, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting users from fraud, impersonation, and harm, and in maintaining the integrity of the service.

If we determine that an account is fake, impersonating another person, or being used fraudulently, we may remove the account and the content associated with it.

Please note that this is a review process, not identity verification. As stated in our Terms & Conditions, MoveSocial does not conduct background checks or formally verify user identity. Use your own judgment and caution when meeting people.

5. How We Share Your Information

5.1 With Other Users

  • Your profile information is visible to other MoveSocial users
  • Your posts and activities within groups and activity threads are visible to other participants
  • Your participation in activities and events may be visible to other participants
  • Before you RSVP to an activity, other users see limited information about it. Once you RSVP, participants can see the full details and who else is attending

5.2 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third parties who help us operate our service:

  • Cloud storage providers
  • Analytics services
  • Customer support tools
  • Email and notification delivery services
  • Security and fraud prevention services

5.3 With Event Hosts

If you purchase a ticket to an event, the host receives your information from their own payment processor, not from MoveSocial. If you RSVP to an event within the app, the host can see that you are attending, in the same way any activity creator can see who is attending.

5.4 For Legal and Safety Reasons

We may share information when required by law or to:

  • Comply with legal processes
  • Protect our rights and property
  • Ensure user safety
  • Prevent fraud or illegal activities

5.5 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new entity.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Account Controls

  • Update your profile and preferences at any time
  • Control your visibility and privacy settings
  • Manage notification preferences
  • Delete your account

6.2 Data Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your information
  • Port your data to another service
  • Object to certain processing activities

6.3 Communication Preferences

  • Opt out of promotional emails
  • Manage push notification settings
  • Control activity-related notifications

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Regular security assessments
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure data centers and infrastructure

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specific retention periods:

  • Account information: Until account deletion
  • Messages and posts: Until deletion by user or account closure
  • Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized, retained for business purposes
  • Records related to removed accounts: Retained as needed to prevent the same person from re-registering and to meet legal obligations

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to retain it for legal compliance or legitimate business purposes.

Further instructions on how to delete your account can be found on the delete account page.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers, including:

  • Standard contractual clauses
  • Adequacy decisions
  • Certification schemes

10. Children's Privacy

MoveSocial is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

11. Third-Party Services

Our app may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services, including payment processors used by event hosts and video conferencing links provided for online activities. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

12. User Ratings

MoveSocial allows users to leave anonymous ratings of each other after participating in activities or events. Ratings are collected to help maintain trust, accountability, and quality within the community. These scores may be aggregated and displayed as an average rating on user profiles. MoveSocial may also collect structured feedback (e.g., reasons for a rating) for internal moderation purposes, but this feedback is not made visible to other users. By using the platform, you agree to participate in the rating system and understand that your average rating may be visible to others.

13. Privacy Controls and Visibility Settings

MoveSocial allows you to control how visible your information is to other users. You can adjust your privacy settings within the app to:

  • Hide which public groups you've joined from appearing on your profile

These settings are optional and customizable. By default, all users can view the public groups you're in unless you change these settings in your privacy preferences.

14. Activity, Group, and Event Visibility

Activities. Activities you post are public within the app and can be discovered by other users in your area. Before someone RSVPs, they see limited information: what the activity is, roughly when, the general location, who posted it, and how many people are going. The exact meeting spot, exact time, and full list of attendees are shown only after someone RSVPs.

Groups. MoveSocial offers both public and private groups. When you create or join a public group, other users may be able to discover that group, view limited information about it, and see that you are a member. Public groups may be recommended to other users based on shared preferences or location.

If you create or join a private group, it will only be visible to users who receive a direct invite. MoveSocial will not recommend private groups in search results or suggestions.

You can choose the group visibility setting during group creation. By participating in public groups, you acknowledge that some of your profile information and activity may be more broadly visible within the MoveSocial community.

Events. Events are public by nature. Event details, including the date, time, venue address, host, and ticket information, are visible to anyone using the app, and may also be shared publicly outside the app by the host or by MoveSocial in promotional posts.

15. Public Profile Information

When you create a MoveSocial account, certain information from your profile may be visible to other users to support matching, trust, and community participation. Unless you change your privacy settings, your profile may publicly display:

  • First name
  • Location (city and state)
  • Active level and fitness style
  • Rating (based on community ratings)
  • Fitness activities you've selected
  • Availability preferences
  • Other interests (such as music, gaming, sports, arts and entertainment, wellness, travel, and the outdoors)
  • About You Details (if added by you)
  • Uploaded profile photos
  • Public groups you've joined (unless you choose to hide this in your privacy settings)

This information helps others understand your fitness preferences and community engagement. You can adjust who sees the public groups you have joined in your privacy settings.

16. Additional Rights for Specific Regions

16.1 California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights including:

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
